Wednesday night

First, how awesome was House last night? Foreman quit, Chase was fired and Cameron finally said enough! Bet they’ll all be back next year, but what a way to end the season. I love this show, and can’t wait for it to come back on. Hopefully it is as good next year as it was this year. The House/Cameron kiss? Good stuff.

Knitting. Can’t say I’ve done too much this week. My big plans were to finish my Colinette Jitterbug anklets. I think I’ve cast on? Maybe? I’ve been lazy on this one, that’s for sure.

Same with my sockpalooza socks. Just plain lazy. I’ll kick my butt into high gear once I get back from TNNA this weekend. What’s that? Why yes, I’m going to TNNA. My mom owns a yarn store, and I’m going with her to the show. I’m even taking a class. Not the moebius one, but one on a different way to purl (I hate purling. Though purling on the Monkey socks and Roza’s socks isn’t bothering me. Odd that.).

So, I got 2 comments in re: the cute guy who’s 4-years younger than me. Thank you both for the comments. It gives me pause, and I agree that I don’t think that men ever really grow up. Then again, does anyone? Maybe women are just better at “hiding” it? I haven’t had the opportunity to see him again since last week, but maybe soon? Since he’s the sales person, sorry, “sales consultant” that sold me my car, I will probably hear from him soon to see how everything’s going – plus, he’s got to remind me about the “new Nissan owner’s meeting” next month.

Oh yes, the car! It’s AWESOME! It’s bright blue. It’s beautiful. It’s comfortable. I LOVE IT! My green Mazda was awesome, but there’s something about this car that I can’t put my finger on. It’s just perfect for me.

Wish I had pics, but I got to go pack for TNNA – my flight’s @ a ridiculously early 7:35am on Friday.

Newest obsession? this.

Sidetracked

I had every intention of working solely on my sockpalooza sock (didja get the pun?) this nice, long weekend.

Instead, I got sidetracked.

I decided instead of working on the 1st sock, I'd cast on for the 2nd -- that way the 2 socks will be done almost at the same time. See?

Using this time Pony Pearl 2.5mm needles. I'll need the plastic needles once I board Southwest to go to Columbus this weekend for TNNA.

Then, I realized I will be going to a friend's wedding in a smidge over a month, and need something to wear over my sleeveless dress. Enter the Retro Redux Shrug from Lace Style, in Knitpicks Merino Style Tide Pool.

Lastly, though I haven't been working on it, is my Chevron Scarf, part deux. This time using STR in Rose Quartz and Scottish Highlands.

I may ditch it all though and use the chebron scarf that domesticat came up with instead.

Add in nice, warm weather, giving a dog a bath and finding a dead bird's head in my yard (one the dog wanted to "play" with), and that's pretty much my weekend.

Random question: Is it wrong to think that the guy who sold me my car was a little cute, even though he's like 4 years younger than me?

200 additional things about me

I also did those 100 things about me meme.

One here.
Another one here.

I don't think I have another 100 things left to go into

7-8 Random things about moi

No one tagged me :( but I thought I'd share anyway.

1. I don't like drinking milk. I apparently was lactose intolerant when I was a kid, but I've also heard that I drank it without care too. Who knows which one is correct, but drinking it straight now, it reminds me of glue.

2. I've always had a pet in my life. I grew uup with my parents 2 dachsunds, and except for 6 months, I've always lived with a pet. In those 6 months, my dog was with my parents, so I still technically had a pet.

3. I love to drive. There is somthing freeing about getting behind the wheel and going. Whether it's to work, shopping, etc., I love it.

4. I have never won anything -- like a prize. I've won awards, but never anything like a trip, a CD or anything like that. I probably should try more often than I do, which is every once in a while, but I'm lazy.

5. For all purposes, I have given up soda. Doesn't mean I don't occasionally have one, but I'd rather drink tea or water. I think it goes with the fact that so far I have lost 25 of the 30 pounds I gained when I moved to NH from FL, and now that I have more energy I neeed less caffeinge.

6. I love summer. The heat, the humidity -- all of it. Which is a bit funny since I'm like the palest white girl out there -- being 3/4 Scottish-Irish, and being unable to sit out in the sun w/o my SPF 9000 for more than 30 seconds. I fry in the sun, which is too bad, because I seriously love being outside in the warm weather.

7. I like thunderstorms. Not necessarily driving in them, but I like being home for them. The thunder and lightning put on a show, and if the power goes out -- even better. It's mystical and mysterious, even dare I say it, a bit sexy? Of course it's all science based, but there's something about a good thunderstorm on a hot summer day.

8. One of the best feelings is getting into a freshly made bed at night, after a long day. The feeling of the cool, crisp cotton sheets as you crawl in, is in my opinion, divine. Almost makes me want to change my sheets every day. Almost.

My job

I love my job and what I do. Seriously.

Sometimes, as with all jobs that I have had and not just this one, it seems that a lot of the sh*t that hits the proverbial fan is slung my way. That would just be my perception, and everyone tends to see themselves as getting the short end of the stick, but thenagain that's why they call it perception.

I will never mention who I work for, or any colleagues I work with. That's not fair, as it does not give them a way to defend themselves. It also may be grounds for me to be dooced.

Everyone has trials and tribulations they must face. Broken arm, loss of a job, sick family member, etc. My trials and tribulations this year include, but are not limited to the following:
-> the bathroom flooding 2x -- 1 with the washer and 1 with the pipes
-> waking up to a bat in the house
-> leading to RABIES post-exposure vaccines
-> rodents nesting under the hood of my car, costing $630 to have it re-wired
-> the same car stalling for NO reason
-> taking my dog to the emergency vet 3 times -- 1 for a bruised eye, 1 for eating chocolate (poison for dogs) and 1 for chewing up an old ant trap

I'm sure there is more. But nothing compares to the RABIES scare. That is some scary sh*t, and I'm damn near 30 and I was freaking out for 6 weeks.

So, add all that together and one might be calling me up going, "Uh, is your doctor going to put you on anti-depressants, 'cause I'd be mighty down that the universe was kickiing my a** 6-ways to Tuesday." Add on Accu-tane = dry, flaky, itchy skin/scalp and you get even more down.

Take the above + minor work stuff = "I'm as mad as h*ll and I'm not going to take it anymore." Not to that extreme, but you get the drift. Go rent Network btw, great movie.

Makes me want to lie down with a few aspirin and a stiff drink. Except there is that Accu-tane warning, "Do not drink alcohol," that nullifies that wish.

Thank goodness the knitting helps -- it's better than drugs! :)

Pictures tomorrow -- I did the heel of my 1st sockpal sock! I know, stop the presses!!!

Yes, we have no knitting today

Nope, no knitting to show at the mo'

Want exciting news???

I'm getting a new car!!!!!! More specifically, this one:
vrh_07_l_s_b14

It's very cool, btw.

Also, my chevron scarf that I had started -- this one: DSCN0365 -- has been ripped. I'm instead using STR in Rose Quartz and Scottish Highlands. I'll get pics, promise.

Lastly, my mom owns a yarn store -- Ewe Knit in Normal, IL. Anyone know of an easy-to-use web design system she could use?

Sockpaloo-ooza Update

So, I've started my sockpals socks, and I've gotten into a groove w/ them. I'm using Roza's Socks from the Spring IK, designed by Grumperina. It looks a smidge lacy, but that's due to the brioche rib. Other than that, it's your basic 3x3 rib.

Also, it's super fun. Very easy to knit and watch TV. I haven't had to tink all that much, but that always could happen.

I am making one mod to the pattern -- I'm doing a short row heel instead of a heel flap. I like heel flaps, but want to change it up a bit. Make it a bit different.

Here are 2 in-progress pics, details will be below.

One w/ the computer:

and 1 w/ a kitty
DSCN0376

I'm using Koigu KPM in 2388 (brown) for the foot and leg and P103 (green) for the heels and toes.
As for needles, I am using KnitPicks and INOX/PRYM 2.5mm.
